Frequently Asked Questions About Painting Kitchen Cabinets
Approximately how long does it take to paint kitchen cabinets?
The average duration of a kitchen cabinet repaint project for a mid to high-end home is five working days. Day 1: Prep, Day 2: Sand and De-gloss, Day 3: Prime, Day 4: Apply Finish Paint, Day 5: Re-assemble Kitchen and De-prep
How much does it cost to repaint my kitchen cabinets?
Through our experiences, $4,000 seems to be the minimum cost of a Kitchen Cabinet painting project. There are many factors that affect the cost of the project. For example, quantity or size of the kitchen cabinets, existing condition of the cabinets, if you’re painting the interiors of the cabinet frames, if you’re using handles or pulls that match the existing holes or if new ones will need to be drilled, and if your cabinets are already painted, are just a few considerations.
Will I be able to use my kitchen during the process?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to use your kitchen to cook meals for the duration of the project. However, the kitchen will be accessible throughout the process and appliances can be used.
Should I paint the interior of my cabinets?
This is completely optional. When your cabinets and drawers are in closed position the cabinet set will look completely painted. In general, if the interiors are in good shape, we recommend not painting them. We believe the existing prefinished version wears better than the painted interiors. However, if your interiors are worn out and you would like them cleaned up, we recommend painting them.
Should I remove my belongings from the inside of the cabinets?
Yes! With the prep work we do, your belongings would probably be fine, but why take the risk? Please remove all your belongings prior to the painting process. As a bonus, you may even find something you forgot about!
